Last updated: November 1, 2026

Who we are

Your account

Your content

The items, ratings, notes, photos, links and profile details you add are your content. You keep ownership of it. So that we can run the service, you give us permission to store it, process it (for example, to find a matching poster or write a short summary), and show it in the places you choose, such as your public profile or a link you share. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for a short time for backups or legal reasons.

You are responsible for your content. Only add things you have the right to share, and do not upload photos or text that belong to someone else unless you have permission.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content

Top Tried has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You may not post, share or link to content that:

You also may not try to break, overload or get around the security of the service, scrape other people's content, or use Top Tried to collect data about other users.

Reporting and blocking

Every public profile and shared link has a Report option. Use it to tell us about content or a user that breaks these terms. You can report without signing in. Signed-in users can also block another user, which hides that user's profile and shared links from them.

You can also email privacy@toptried.com with a link to the content and a short description of the problem.

How we handle reports

We review reports and act on them within 24 hours. If content breaks these terms, we remove it. If a user posted it, we may also suspend or terminate their account. We may remove content or act on an account without a report when we see a clear violation.

Automated screening of public content

When you make something public, such as your public profile name and bio, items shown on your public profile, notes, photos you upload, or an item you share by link, an automated system checks it against these terms. If it flags something, that content is hidden from public view right away and a person reviews it. If the review finds no problem, we restore it. The text of private lists is never scanned.

Every photo you upload, public or private, is checked automatically before it is saved. Photos with sexual or nude content cannot be uploaded. Photos that appear violent are held and reviewed by a person before they show up.

Account termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, that posts objectionable content, or that abuses other users or the service. Serious or repeated violations lead to permanent removal, and you may not create a new account to get around it.

You can delete your own account at any time from Account, profile & privacy in the app. Deleting your account removes your list, your public profile and any links you have shared.

Third-party content

Some pictures and facts come from outside sources such as TMDB, Wikimedia Commons, Open Library and Google Places, and stay under those sources' own terms. We credit them where they appear. Summaries marked as AI-written are generated and may contain mistakes.

The service as is

Top Tried is provided as is, without promises that it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses from using the service. We may change or stop parts of the service.

Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and let signed-in users know in the app. Continuing to use Top Tried after a change means you accept the new terms.
